Art & Commerce. Fashion in the Zeitgeist of 1925–1935

Mia Münster Museum St. Wendel

Based on the striking and fascinating visual connections between the display figures and mannequin heads of the 1920s and 1930s and the fashion and advertising illustrations of artist Mia Münster, deliberate “encounters” are created and staged here.

Each combination of image and figure has been given its own stage in the form of a coloured banner, highlighting the individual parallels between artistic fashion illustration and commercial art – originally coincidental, but consciously curated today. The interplay of three-dimensional objects and flat drawings creates synergies in which the effect of the object and the image mutually reinforce one another.
